Through Road Early Learning (TREL) is a long day care service incorporating a 3-year-old pre-kinder program and a funded 4-year-old kinder program, providing both full time and part time places for up to 44 children per day.

TREL was established as a community-based, non-profit childcare centre, run entirely by a committee of parents, making it truly a community resource. Complete care is provided for children aged six months to six years, with high staff to child ratios and a dedicated, qualified team.

Our History

The Centre was established in February 1986 with Federal funding for building renovations and equipment purchases. Boroondara Council provided the building and land for the establishment of the first parent-managed child care centre in Camberwell.

The Centre moved to temporary premises while renovations were carried out during 1997. Renovations to the staff areas, laundry and kitchen were completed in 2012.

In 2022, The Centre is under an interior renovation. The Centre is moved to another temporary premise in Balwyn during the renovation period (Jan-September 2022, TBC.).
